Cattle Queen of Texas
Lizzie Johnson Williams:: As one of the first women to drive cattle up the Chisholm Trail—and the first to do so with her own branded cattle— Lizzie earned the nickname “The Cattle Queen of Texas.” Lizzie also had the first prenuptial agreement in Texas and was a pioneer in breaking the barrier into what had always been a man’s world: cattle trading.
Lizzie is made from vintage vintage cattle drive history book pages, acrylic, ink, and resin. | 30” x 24”
What She’s Made Of:
Excerpt from my “interview” with Lizzie:
“Keeping the books for those cattle barons taught me two things: one, I have a good head for numbers. And two, there was a lot of money to be made in cattle and I wanted to be the one making it.”
